Aug 5 (Reuters) – West Ham United’s new striker Gianluca Scamacca will miss their Premier League opener towards champions Manchester City as he’s in need of match health following his transfer from Italian Serie A facet Sassuolo, supervisor David Moyes stated on Friday.

Italy worldwide Scamacca joined the London facet final month on a five-year contract however Moyes stated Sunday’s match comes too quickly for the 23-year-old.

“Scamacca has only just really joined us, so he’s probably a little bit behind, so I’m not expecting him to be available this weekend,” Moyes instructed reporters.

“He’s not had the chance to play… so it probably makes it very difficult for us to put him out on the pitch so soon. His training is a little bit behind compared to the others. He has trained, but maybe not as regular and as consistent.

“The switch took fairly a bit off as they pulled him out of some video games and coaching on the time, so we have got him in and I like what I see, however we’re making an attempt to get him in one of the best situation we are able to and get him able to play.”

Moyes, whose side finished seventh last season, will also be without another Italian in Angelo Ogbonna for up to four weeks as the defender builds up his fitness following a knee injury.
